In the film Gayby, Jenn (Jenn Harris) and Matt (Matthew Wilkas) are best friends from college who are now in their thirties and single. Jenn is a yoga instructor and Matt a comic book store worker. They decide to fulfil a pact made when they were younger and have a child together despite the fact that Jenn is straight and Matt, gay. The pair decides to have the baby through natural conception and so they begin to have awkward sex.
Matt is not yet over his ex-boyfriend Tom (Zach Shaffer) and is constantly trying to avoid bumping into him. Jenn and Matt decide to revive their dating lives and Jenn has a one night stand with her boss’s brother Louis (Louis Cancelmi). Matt meets a divorced and newly out gay father Scott (Mike Doyle) and they begin a relationship. Jenn then discovers she is pregnant.
Louis tells Jenn that he has a girlfriend and that during his night with Jenn, the condom broke, Jenn is furious about his girlfriend and devastated that the baby might not be Matt’s after all. When she tells Matt, he too is devastated and the pair fall out.
Eventually Jenn asks for Matt’s forgiveness and he relents. A year later Matt is a success with a comic book he has written and is continuing in his relationship with Scott. Jenn is dating one of Matt’s colleagues. At the end of the film, Jen says to the baby ‘you sure do look like your father’ leaving the audience to guess who the father is.
“While Jonathan Lisecki is well in tune with his film’s niche market, his knack for comedy, both visual and verbal, is universally hilarious.”

“Harris, a talented comic actress who looks more like a real person than a Hollywood facsimile of one, makes every scene she’s in shine.”
