The 2008 documentary, Wrangler: Anatomy Of An Icon, is a poignant look at Jack Wrangler, a gay film star who rose to fame in the 1970’s gay porn industry, and later enjoyed similar success in straight porn. This film is compiled from first-person interviews and archive footage.
“The Fabulous Allan Carr tells Allan’s story,” Jeffrey Schwarz explains. “But it’s also a social history of gay life from the 50s when little gay boys would channel their obsessions through movies and would worship glamorous movie queens through the 70s when people started coming out of the closet through the 80s when AIDS came along and ruined the party for everyone. That’s sort of the backdrop of Allan’s story.”
Released in 2013, I Am Divine is a documentary shot and compiled from archive footage by Director Jeffrey Schwarz. Divine, aka Harris Glenn Milstead, was one of Baltimore’s most celebrated drag queens until his death in 1988. I Am Divine features archived footage of the late Divine herself, as well as interviews from Michael Musto, Greg Gorman, Mink Stole, and John Waters.
