Written and directed by Thomas Bezucha, the 2000 film Big Eden follows the touching story of an up and coming artist who takes the opportunity to embrace and explore his sexuality during an unexpected visit to his childhood home. Arye Gross plays the role of Henry Hart, an artist in Manhattan. On the night of his biggest opening at the Whitney Museum, Henry learns that his grandfather’s health has taken a turn for the worse. Henry decides to return to Big Eden, Montana to care for his grandfather. During his visit, Henry finds that he must address his relationship with Dean Stewart, his best friend from high school. Meanwhile, the town’s general store owner, Pike, begins to fall in love with Henry.
Born in 1960, Arye Gross has spent most of his life in Los Angeles, CA. Following high school, Gross attended the University of California at Irvine to study acting and theatre. He also attended the Conservatory at South Coast Repertory and became a resident member of the theatre troupe for over three years.
Primarily a theatre actor, Gross’s stage credits include some of the most well-known theatres throughout Los Angeles. He has acted in the Pasedena Playhouse, Los Angeles Theater Center, MET Theater, and Odyssey Theater Ensemble. Gross has also delivered a number of memorable performances in some of Shakespeare’s works for the Grove Shakespeare Festival.

Arye Gross got his start in theatre in the Los Angeles area. After spending three years with the South Coast Repertory, Arye joined El Teatro Campesino and began work for a variety of theater companies. His stage credits include La Bete, Room Service, Three Sisters, and popular Shakespeare works such as Taking of the Shrew and Much Ado About Nothing.
Gross is probably most recognized for his variety of television appearances. Featuring mostly walk-on or featured extra roles, Gross has appeared in Knight Rider, Friends, CSI, Law & Order, Grey’s Anatomy, Dollhouse, Lie to Me, and Fringe. Gross also held a recurring role in Ellen, starring alongside Ellen DeGeneres.
