Gay Essential Films To Watch, La Cage Aux Folles

Released in 1978 La Cage aux Folles was co-written and directed by Edouard Molinaro. Nominated for an Academy Award, the film won Best Foreign Film at the Golden Globes, with Best Actor going to Michel Serrault at the Cesar Awards. Shot in location in Rome, Saint Tropez, France and the French Riviera, Ugo Tognazzi and Claire Maurier also star. The film is an adaptation of the 1973 play by Jean Poiret.
