Winner “BEST ACTRESS” at thirteen film festivals, plus awards for “BEST SCREENPLAY”, “BEST DIRECTOR”, “BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS”, and “BEST ORIGINAL SONG”

“Impressively realized on all levels, this transgender spin on the road trip boasts an extraordinary central performance.”
  –Sheri Linden, The Hollywood Reporter

“This debut feature left me in a state of movie euphoria. Who could have guessed that such a discomfiting premise would blossom into a deadpan-hilarious and yet deeply affecting story about a singular glitch in the human condition?”
–Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal

“The movie's soul is with Huffman. Speaking in a low voice, her posture as stiff as her vocabulary, her eyes a pool of sadness and hope, she turns this small, resonant film into a cry from the heart.”
–Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

Reviews

  1. :

This quirky indie film landed in my local theatre a few years back and I love it so much I picked up the DVD the day it released. Felicity Huffman does a great job playing a male-to-female transexual, whose life is turned upside-down just as she is settling into her new life as a woman and prepping for her final operation. As a result, sexual identity is challenged, her distant past comes back to haunt her, and she has to spend a dreadful couple of days with her parents. But it’s certainly not all doom and gloom, as this movie is full of subtle and sometimes perverse humor, all definitely worth watching.
