The film Death in Venice (Morte a Venezia) was released in 1971. The film version is an adaptation of the Thomas Mann novel titled Der Tod in Venedig. Luchino Visconti wrote the screenplay and directed the film. The film’s protagonist Gustave Aschenbach seeks peace and rest in vain at a Venetian holiday resort.
