Celebrating its 26th edition, Cineffable, the Paris International Lesbian and Feminist Film Festival, invites theatregoers to leave their troubles at the door and enjoy some spectacular works of fiction, animation, and documentary. Featuring over 40 films from dozens of countries, this year’s festival is certain to present new and inspiring works of art, as well as vendors, traditional art, and plenty of opportunities for roundtable discussions and debates.
The 26th Cineffable festival begins Thursday, October 30th and concludes the following Sunday, November 2nd, 2014. Highlights of this year’s festival include intellectual documentaries in which directors will present the challenges and atmosphere surrounding LGBT culture in each of their respective countries. Choice directors include Pratibha Parmar, Therese Clerc, and Cassandra Rios. The festival kicks off with an extraordinary documentary on one of the first significant writers of the 20th century, Alice Walker: Beauty in Truth.
Other films focus on pop culture from various parts of the world, including the growing Roller Derby culture in Paris in Derby Crazy Love, an introspective titled The Punk Singer, which focuses on Kathleen Hanna, founder of Le Tigre, and a stirring look at the challenges facing LGBT lifestyle in Russia in the film Moonlight People.
