Established in 1995, Fire!! is an annual event and the oldest of its kind in Spain. The festival, presented by El Casal Lambda,is held in Barcelona and in 2014 will run from 3rd to 13th July at El Instituto Francés.
The Fire!! Gay & Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered film festival this year includes gay films, documentaries and photographs. Fire!! 2014 “We can be Heroes” is dedicated to David Bowie and will centre on bisexuality and European cinema in particular.
Fire!! 21204 Film Festival highlights include: In the Name of a series of photographs from Malgoska Szumowska; Les Rencontres d’après minuit, the film début from Yann González, starring Éric Cantona and Béatrice Dalle; Gore Vidal, The United States of Amnesia a documentary by Nicholas D. Wrathall; A Liar’s Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python’s Graham Chapman, a posthumous homage to the life of Graham Chapman from Bill Jones, Jeff Simpson and Ben Timlett; and 52 Tuesdays by Sophie Hyde, a film following the story of an adolescent girl whose mother is undergoing gender reassignment.
